OBITUARY

If there was ever a guy who lived life full throttle, it was Matt Chambers. Born on June 12, 1963, in Denver, Colorado, Matt spent his years embracing adventure, pushing limits, and making sure that no mountain was left unskied, no fish left uncaught, and no project left unfinished (well, most of them, anyway). He passed away doing what he loved in Keystone, Colorado, probably with a big grin, a little bit of mischief, and absolutely no regrets.
From an early age, Matt’s love for the outdoors was evident. He played little league football for Golden before trading the gridiron for the slopes, joining the Breckenridge ski team around age nine or ten. Speed was his second language—whether on skis, a mountain bike, or behind the wheel, he never met a hill he didn’t want to conquer. Camping, hiking, fishing, and just about anything that involved dirt, water, or snow were woven into the fabric of his life. And if you ever went on a camping trip with him, chances are he made you bait your own hook, carry your own gear, and still somehow convinced you that you were the lucky one to be there.
Matt married Wendy Hoefer and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and a little bit of chaos—raising two strong daughters, Baylei and Madelyn, and becoming the unofficial cameraman for every barrel race in the county. He helped maintain the ranch, assisted with the horses, and managed to do it all while holding down a full-time job. He worked for Hatcher Construction before deciding that working for someone else was cutting into his adventure time. So, he did what any independent, no-nonsense, freedom-loving man would do—he started Chambers Construction LLC, allowing him to set his own schedule and, in his own words, "do whatever the hell he wanted."
But Matt was more than just a thrill-seeker and a handyman. He was a man of faith, finding strength in God during life’s toughest moments. He didn’t just believe in his faith—he lived it, preaching God's word daily and reminding those he loved that no matter what life threw their way, they were never alone. His kindness was unwavering, his spirit was strong, and while he could be strict, he was always fair.
Matt is survived by his daughters, Baylei and Madelyn Chambers; his granddaughter, Ember Chambers, who undoubtedly inherited his adventurous spirit; his mother, Virginia Bray; his father, Howard Chambers; his siblings, Maria Keen and Mark Chambers, and their families. His absence will be deeply felt, but his legacy—a legacy of passion, adventure, and unwavering love—will live on through every person lucky enough to have known him.
Matt wouldn’t want us to dwell on sadness for too long—he’d probably tell us to grab a drink, tell a good story, and get outside to enjoy the fresh air. So, in his honor, let’s all do just that.
